🍄 The Hidden World of Slime Molds – UK Photography Workshop Tour
Over the last year, I've spent countless hours searching for and photographing slime molds across woodlands, parks, and nature reserves throughout the UK. During that time, I've discovered hundreds of species, including some rare finds and even a species that was recorded for the first time in the UK.
Now I'd like to share that knowledge with you.
Join me for a day in the field as I guide you through the fascinating world of slime molds. Together we'll explore woodland habitats, learn where to look, how to find them, and most importantly, how to photograph these incredible organisms successfully.
This workshop is focused entirely on finding and photographing slime molds. Whether you're new to macro photography or already have experience, I'll help you improve your skills and gain confidence working with these tiny subjects.
During the workshop, I'll cover:
🍄 How and where to find slime molds
🌿 Understanding habitats and seasonal conditions
📷 Camera settings and macro photography techniques
💡 Light control using natural light and flash
🎨 Composition techniques for stronger images
🔍 Focus stacking techniques in the field
📸 How I approach and photograph different species
As a bonus, all participants will receive a 3-hour online Zoom session on a separate day, where I'll demonstrate my complete focus stacking workflow in Zerene Stacker, from importing images through to retouching and final processing. The online session will be held within two weeks of the field workshop.
During the online session, I'll cover:

My goal is not only to help you create better photographs on the day, but also to give you the knowledge and confidence to continue finding and photographing slime molds on your own.

Join me for a full day exploring the fascinating world of slime molds in one of the UK's best woodland habitats. Denny Wood in the New Forest is a fantastic location for discovering a wide variety of species.
Whether you're completely new to slime molds or already enjoy macro photography, this workshop is designed to help you improve both your fieldcraft and photographic techniques.

During the day, I'll guide you through how to find slime molds, understand their habitats, and photograph them successfully. We'll cover camera settings, light control, composition, and focus stacking techniques, helping you create detailed and creative images of these fascinating organisms.
As a bonus, all participants will also receive a 3-hour online Zoom session, where I'll take you through my complete focus stacking workflow using Zerene Stacker, including image organisation, stacking techniques, retouching, and final image preparation.
💻 Online Focus Stacking Session:
10th November, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Zoom)
The online session will give you the opportunity to process images captured during the workshop and ask any questions that arise after the field session.
